On June 28 at 4:22pm, Voters Not Politicians submitted the full language of our proposal to end gerrymandering to the Bureau of Elections staff for review. On June 29, our attorney hand delivered a mock up of the petition for technical requirement review.
According to Michigan's Secretary of State Office Bureau of Elections, it "offers its staff for consultations on the various petition formatting requirements" if the initiative wishes to receive the optional, but highly recommended Board of State Canvassers as to form approval. These technical requirements include details like type of font, signature box fields, and positioning accuracy of statutory language.
Voters Not Politicians was told to expect a "24 hour" window before receiving feedback or suggestions. This 24-48 hour window of feedback was respectfully given to other ballot initiatives.

Yet the Bureau of Elections staff has not approved the form of our petition...nor has it given us any time frame within which it will complete this review.
It's time to tell our government that we will not stand by, and that we expect to hear answers immediately, not in a few "weeks or months."
