Advisory Council Director
Walt Sorg brings 40 years of public policy leadership to Voters Not Politicians. He has held senior executive positions in all three branches of Michigan state government, including service as Assistant Executive Director of the State Bar of Michigan, press secretary to the Speaker of the House, and chief economic development spokesperson for the state Commerce Department. He is also former volunteer President of the Mid-Michigan Environmental Action Council, and one of the founders of the Crim Festival of Races in Flint, which was created in support of Michigan Special Olympics.
Why he’s committed to this effort:
“I have a deep concern about having a truly representative government. It goes back to the Declaration of Independence: government derives its power from the consent of the governed. When a system allows that ‘consent’ to be manipulated, we threaten the very core of our system."
