Our right to petition our government is under attack by politicians.
On December 28, 2018, House Bill 6595 was signed into law, becoming Public Act 608. This unconstitutional law puts unfair and unnecessary restrictions on citizen ballot initiatives and referendums by making it more difficult to collect signatures from Michigan voters. This law is a direct attack on our right to direct democracy and ability to petition our government.
Voters Not Politicians is exploring action to strike down this law through a referendum. If we decide to pursue a referendum we must collect 212,529 valid petition signatures by March 21st so they can be certified by the Board of State Canvassers in time for a legislative referendum.
Although we have not made a decision to move forward yet, important work must start now! First, we need to know if you're interested in volunteering.
